The Fienile is the younger spirit of the estate.

Where the Colonica is all fireplaces and quiet grandeur, the barn is lighter on its feet — exposed beams and an iron four-poster, a dining table cut from a single slab of figured wood, ochre velvet chairs against a wall of bare stone. It was restored for two, or four, and never asked to be more.

Life here runs outdoors.

Under a canopy in the garden, a table is laid for long dinners as the sun drops behind the olives, and an outdoor shower turns the walk back from the pool into part of the pleasure.

And the pool itself is set apart — up in the high garden, the whole valley before it, the most secluded corner of the whole estate.

Panoramic pool

Up the stone steps to the high garden, and the rest of the world drops away.

The pool sits alone here, the whole valley opening in front of it, and no other corner of the estate feels this private. This is the one you climb to at eight in the morning with a coffee, and the one you don't leave until the light has gone.

Loungers, an outdoor shower, a patch of shade under the olives. In the evening the sun sets straight ahead of you, and the water holds the last of it.

The garden & outdoor living

The Fienile is a house you live outside.

Under the pergola, a deep sofa waits for the middle of the day — the spot for a book, a nap, the slow hour after lunch when nobody wants to move.

There is an outdoor shower, properly plumbed with hot water, set in its own cedar box: the good kind of luxury, rinsing off under the open sky with the olives around you and no roof overhead.

And as the day cools, life moves to the dining area under its canopy, where the table is laid and the barbecue is lit — dinner outdoors with the valley going gold, and then dark, in front of you.

Inside

The whole upper floor is one large bedroom - an iron four-poster beneath old chestnut beams, and a private terrace that looks straight down the valley: the last light in the evening, the first of it in the morning, taken standing at your own railing above the olives.

Downstairs, the living room keeps the soul of the building: the great glazed door was once the entrance the ox-carts drove through to reach the barn, now a wall of glass pulling the garden inside. Here stand the dining table and the sofa, with the fully fitted kitchen alongside and its own door to the garden.

A second bedroom, on the raised ground floor,  has two single beds, joined into a double on request, with a bathroom and shower beside it.
